An ICT Capacity Planner ensures that an organization's IT infrastructure—servers, networks, storage, and software—can meet current and future demand without overprovisioning or underprovisioning resources. This strategic role sits at the intersection of IT operations, finance, and business strategy, requiring deep understanding of system performance, cost optimization, and scalability.

Key responsibilities include monitoring resource utilization across on-premises and cloud environments, analyzing historical usage trends, and building predictive models to forecast capacity needs. The planner works closely with infrastructure engineers, network architects, and application teams to recommend upgrades, migrations, or configuration changes. They conduct what-if analyses for business growth scenarios, new product launches, or seasonal spikes, ensuring capacity aligns with service-level agreements (SLAs) and budget constraints.
