An ICT System Analyst bridges business needs and technology solutions by analyzing, designing, and implementing information and communication technology (ICT) systems. This role is critical in organizations that rely on complex IT infrastructures, such as telecoms, finance, healthcare, and government. The analyst evaluates existing systems, gathers and documents requirements from stakeholders, and translates them into technical specifications for development teams. They model data flows, define system integrations, and oversee testing and validation to ensure solutions meet quality standards. At junior levels, the focus is on documentation, testing, and supporting senior analysts. Mid-level analysts lead requirements workshops, create detailed functional designs, and manage small to medium projects. Senior analysts architect enterprise-level solutions, advise on technology strategy, and mentor junior staff. The role demands strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills to manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate collaboration between business units and IT. Common tools include UML for modeling, SQL for data analysis, JIRA and Confluence for project tracking, and Microsoft Visio for diagramming. Familiarity with ERP and CRM systems is often required. Certifications such as CBAP, ITIL Foundation, TOGAF, or PMP enhance credibility.
